Non-enhancing brain lesion with Multiva

Patient history

A 22-year-old female with a history of headache and complaints of double vision for the last 10 days presented at Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi, India. She underwent MR examination on Multiva 1.5T

MR examination

The MR examination was performed on a release 5.1 Multiva 1.5T system using the head part of the HeadSpineTorso (HST) coil. The high coil element density provides excellent SNR and resolution in imaging of the brain.

The imaging delivers evidence of small well marginated round non-enhancing cystic lesion in the midline along the third ventricle. The lesion appears homogeneously hyperintense on T2W, iso-hypointense on T1W and hypointense on FLAIR with no ADC restriction.

The high resolution imaging protocol also demonstrates small T2 and FLAIR hyperintense non-enhancing foci in the left parieto-occipital periventricular region.


Possible differential diagnosis may be a neuro epithelial cyst / colloid cyst of the third ventricle.

Impact of imaging with Multiva 1.5T

MR imaging of the brain was performed in multiple planes and with different weighting. The high coil element density provides excellent SNR and resolution.
