Innovative neuroradiology interpretation made possible by Advanced Vessel Analysis on Brilliance Workspace

White Paper
Philips CT Marketing Philips Healthcare

Philips has developed the Brilliance Everywhere solution to help CT clinical experts pioneer breakthrough imaging techniques. Philips' Advanced Vessel Analysis (AVA) is one of the ways they achieve this. This application features neuro bone removal. When performing neuro CT angiography studies, bone removal becomes a challenge due to the proximity of the bones and vessels in the carotid siphon region. The Philips AVA package automatically removes bones to provide clear visualization of the vessels and enables automatic extraction of centerlines and contours for vessel analysis. A recent study compared the effectiveness of conventional tools with that of bone removal in the interpretation and detection of cerebral aneurysms. The study showed that the AVA method offered significant workflow improvements in postprocessing time and increased aneurysm detection sensitivity.

The Brilliance Workspace is ranked #1 in Advanced Visualization by KLAS as reported in its 2008 Top 20 Best in KLAS Awards.
