ExamCard purpose

This release 2.6 Achieva 1.5T XR ExamCard was created by the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA to image cardiomyopathies. The Clinic uses the SENSE XL Torso coil, which has a very large coverage area.

ExamCard overview


Single-shot SSFP and half Fourier acquired single-shot turbo spin echo (ssTSE) images are acquired to delineate the anatomy.


Cine SSFP images are acquired in multiple orientations to help characterize myocardial motion and thickness.


In-plane velocity encoded phase contrast imaging in the 3 chamber (LVOT) orientation is used to visualize and quantify the jet in the LV outflow tract.


All images are acquired with retrospective VCG gating during short (typically 8-14 second) breath holds, except the ssTSE images which were acquired with respiratory triggering during free breathing.
