ExamCard purpose

This release 2.5.3 Achieva 3.0T ExamCard has been designed for breast MR using SENSE and dual coil (SENSE Flex-M and Flex-L coils).

 

The ExamCard includes a T2w TSE, a dynamic CE T1w FFE 3D acquisition (optionally a dynamic CE THRIVE), a high spatial resolution THRIVE, a BLISS sequence and a diffusion sequence.

T2 TSE: comprehensive axial view of both breasts TR,TE 6999/ 120, duration 2:55 min.

 

dyn T1w FFE 3D: CE-3D-T1 dynamic scan, high spatial resolution with a voxel size of 0.8x0.8x2.0 mm, overcontiguous 1 mm reconstructed slices, TR/TE 6.1/2.3, temporal resolution of 1 min. and 6 dynamic scans.

 

dyn THRIVE: optional CE-3D-T1 dynamic scan with fat suppression, high spatial resolution with a voxel size of 0.9x0.9x0.9 mm, overcontiguous isotropic reconstructed slices, TR/TE 3.8/1.37, temporal resolution of 1:14 min. and 6 dyn scans.

 

THRIVE HiRes: high acquisition resolution with an isotropic voxel size of 0.8 mm, TR/TE 5.2/2.4, duration 4:23 min.

 

BLISS: double sagittal SPAIR-THRIVE 0.9 mm isotropic overcontiguous slices reconstruction acquisition TR/TE 4.4/2.2, duration 2:27 min. 

 

DWI_Ssh: EPI-diffusion with b 50, 100, 450 and 900.

Dyn. 3D T1 post-contrast After 2 min. post-contrast a strong enhancement of a lesion is seen in the right breast, a high grade invasive ductal carcinoma. Patient preparation

Positioning of the coils: the SENSE Flex-M coil is placed on the table, the coil is superimposed by a foam layer which is about 10-15 cm thick (depending on the breast volume). The SENSE Flex-L coil is then positioned on top, close to the patient's thorax. The breast should never be compressed. The patient lies on the table foam, the thorax and breast lying on the dual SENSE Flex-M and -L coils.

Contrast agent / injection protocol

Classical gadolinium-based contrast agent 0.5 mmol/ml at a dose of 0.1 mmol/kg BW or

a high concentration gadolinium chelate contrast agent 1 mmol/ml at a dose of 0.1 mmol/kg BW.
