ExamCard purpose

These two release 2.6.3 ExamCards for Achieva 3.0T are optimized for imaging soft tissues of the neck. The first is a complete ExamCard with high resolution sequences. The second ExamCard has sequences with more slices and therefore larger coverage. The ExamCards contain coronal, sagittal and tranverse sequences.

Coil selection

Use of the 16-channel SENSE NeuroVascular coil or the 8-channel SENSE Head coil is recommended for imaging soft tissues in the neck.

The NeuroVascular coil can be used for full head and neck coverage.

The 8-channel Head coil can be used for imaging from the skull base to the mandible.

Patient positioning

Position the patient supine in the SENSE NeuroVascular 16 coil (or SENSE NeuroVascular 8 coil) or the SENSE 8ch Head coil, with the shoulders tight against the coil. The shoulders should be relaxed, this is especially important when using fat suppression.

 

Take care to fix the head with cushions to minimize motion artifacts.
