ExamCard description

This ExamCard is created on an Achieva 3.0T TX using the 8-channel SENSE Knee coil.

This Release 5.1.7 ExamCard uses the mDIXON TSE technique for sagittal PD-weighted imaging for high resolution MSK imaging. The mDIXON TSE sequence yields both water-and-fat images (non-fat suppressed) as well as water-only images (effectively fat-suppressed) in a single scan.

This serves as an example of application of mDIXON TSE to MSK imaging.
Using mDIXON TSE the overall total examination time can be shortened as both non-fat-suppressed and fat-suppressed TSE PDW images can be acquired in one scan. mDIXON TSE scan typically requires a longer scan time; however, 2-point DIXON has a higher SNR compared to standard TSE and therefore SENSE can be applied to shorten scan time while maintaining adequate SNR without trading off spatial resolution.

ExamCard overview

The scan time is typically about 5:30 minutes, depending on the size of the knee.

Parameters in this ExamCard are:
Scan time 5:19 min.
FOV 130 x 130 x 90 mm
Voxel size 0.23 x 0.36 x 3.00 mm
TR 3253 ms, TE 30 ms
30 slices, SENSE factor 2

The series can also be used in other MSK applications like wrist.
