ExamCard purpose

This Release 5.1.7 Achieva 1.5T dStream ExamCard is used for imaging the orbits.

The mDIXON TSE water images provide excellent homogeneous fat suppression in this challenging anatomic area, and on top of that, the in-phase images are produced as well in the same time.


When needed we can also use mDIXON TSE for post-contrast imaging and choose to have T1-weighted both with and without fat suppression at the same time. In the past, it took us two scans to get the same information.

 

In addition to high resolution mDIXON TSE scans for the orbit region, this ExamCard includes full brain coverage MultiVane XD and DWI scans. The T2W and T1W high resolution mDIXON TSE scans enable short scan times with both fat-suppressed and non-fat-suppressed images as output for each scan.

Patient preparation

Position the patient head first, supine on the patient support.

Place the head of the patient on the dS Base coil.

Provide the patient with the knee support, hearing protection and the nurse call before positioning the dS Head or HeadNeck top on the dS Base coil.

Place a venous access for the contrast agent administration when needed.

Postprocessing

SmartLine post-processing steps have been added to various scans. For the

  • T2W_TSE_mDIXON_ORBITA,   ImageAlgebra subtraction;
  • DWI_FFE_DIFFUSIE,   ImageAlgebra subtraction and Diffusion ADC calculation;
  • T1W_TSE_mDIXON+gado transversal,   ImageAlgebra subtraction; and
  • T1W_TSE_mDIXON+gado coronal,   ImageAlgebra subtraction were added.

The SmartLine steps start automatically without user interaction after the reconstruction of the original image series.
