ExamCard description

This R5.1.7 Ingenia 3.0T MR-RT ExamCard is applied for prostate patients for who MRI simulation is requested prior to EBRT and/or brachytherapy treatment. The FlexCoverage Anterior coil is used in combination with the Posterior coil.

ExamCard overview

 

bTFE with SPAIR fat suppression is used to find the outline of the prostate in combination with the gold fiducials. It is important that both are defined in the same high-resolution image, since the positioning of the patient during radiotherapy treatment is based on the position of the gold fiducials.

 

Axial, sagittal and coronal T2w TSE is used to identify the prostate tumor foci and if patient is referred for brachytherapy identify extracapsular extensions. This is a contraindication for brachytherapy.

 

3D T1w mDIXON FFE is used to identify hemorrhages in the prostate due to biopsies or insertion of fiducial markers. These hemorrhages can mimic tumor foci on T2w and ADC.

 

Axial DWI (6 b-values) is used to identify the tumor foci, which mostly has a low ADC.

 

Dynamic series T1w FFE, temporal resolution: 2.4 sec, 120 dynamics. Is used to identify the tumor foci, which mostly has a high perfusion. In the processing of this data, T1 is calculated from pre-scans with a small flip angle and the Toft’s model is used as a model for contrast distribution.
