Asymmetric TSE (aTSE) is used to speed up the PDW scans; aTSE allows direct control of the echo spacing, and the TSE factor can be increased to decrease the scan time.

Patient preparation

The dS Shoulder coil is used. Position the patient, lying on the back, as much as possible to the contra-lateral side and use some wedges to slightly tilt the torso on the contra-lateral side. The Ingenia tabletop is wide (70 cm bore), which allows for virtually all patient sizes.

Make sure the coil cup is not touching the patient’s skin; use a thin spacer to help.

Do not rotate the cup of the coil, keep the side of the cup parallel to the tabletop.
