ExamCard purpose

Many factors in a patient's anatomy as well as characteristics of the fibroid determine if Sonalleve MR-HIFU uterine therapy is a suitable for a patient.

This simple screening ExamCard is designed to help determine if the patient could undergo the treatment.  It can help to speed up the workflow without the need to setup the full Sonalleve system. The ExamCard is made on Ingenia 3.0T release 4.1.

Patient preparation

The patient should be scanned with empty bladder. Instruct the patient to urinate just before the scan and to refrain from drinking before the scan.

Scan the patient in prone position with the Anterior and Posterior coil.

Contrast agent / injection protocol

The post-contrast scan included is to view Gadolinium uptake in the fibroid.
It is not recommended to treat a fibroid that does not take up Gadolinium, because in that case the treatment result (non-perfused area) cannot be quantified in post-contrast images after the treatment.
