Achieva 1.5T: DTI, FA of left frontal glioma

A 65-year-old female with left frontal glioma.

Left:

Tractography, utilizing diffusion tensor imaging, demonstrates a left posterior frontal mass (white arrows) causing abrupt termination of white matter tracts along its posteromedial aspect (curved yellow arrows). Interruption of white matter fibers, and reduction of anisotropy suggests invasion of white matter tracts, rather than displacement.

 

Center:

Anatomical data set reveals the interrupted fibers in posterior left frontal lobe, due to the enhancing mass (small yellow arrows). Intact fibers are present in the posterior right frontal white matter (curved white arrow).

 

Right:

Coronal fractional anisotropy color maps reveal the presence of the posterior left frontal mass (small white arrows) and interrupted fibers of left corticospinal tract (yellow curved arrows), indicating invasion of white matter tracts, rather than displacement.

Impact of Achieva 1.5T imaging:

Very good diffusion weighted imaging, diffusion tensor imaging capabilities.
