Neonate brain on Ingenia 3.0T

Patient history

A neonate underwent MRI on the first day of life on Achieva 1.5T and three days later on Ingenia 3.0T at Phoenix Childeren's hospital.

MR examination

For children under 2 years of age Dual IR sequences are used on Ingenia 3.0T to obtain high-resolution T1 and T2 images in a single acquisition. These sequences allow a more accurate depiction of white matter maturation than conventional spin echo T1 imaging, especially at 3.0T, due to the lengthened T1.

Impact of using Ingenia 3.0T

With Ingenia 3.0T very high resolution is possible of 1 mm 3D volumetric T1-weighted imaging and no gap 2 mm axial T2-weighted imaging. The dual IR sequences provide excellent depiction of white matter maturation.
