Wide coil aperture accommodates more patients

The new 16-channel SENSE Knee coil has an ergonomic design with a special ramped insert to comfortably support patients. The coil's 15-cm aperture is wider than that of the 8-channel Knee coil to also fit patients with heavy muscularity or obesity.

Better imaging results

Positioning is made easier with the 16-channel SENSE Knee coil, as its feet-head coverage of 18 cm is larger by approximately 2 cm (1 inch). This makes positioning in FH direction less critical for obtaining good signal in the complete FOV.

The coil consists of two overlapping rings of 8 elements each, so it enables use of SENSE parallel imaging in all directions. This particularly benefits sagittal fat suppressed scans as using FH SENSE avoids AP artifacts of the popliteal artery without scan time penalties.

Note the excellent fat suppression in this knee.

The 16-channel SENSE Knee coil is available for Achieva 1.5T at release or higher. The 3.0T version will be a transmit/receive coil compatible with Achieva 3.0T at release R3.2 or higher.
