0.6T Brain with Neck L coil for claustrophobic patients

ExamCard purpose

This ExamCard can be used for a brain examination. The Neck L coil is used inversely, so that there are no mechanical parts above the patients┬┤ face, creating a more open feel.

 

This method is in use in the University Hospital Herlev in Copenhagen, Denmark.

 

This ExamCard consists of T2w, T1w, FLAIR, and Inflow scans. Alternative scans can be taken from Philips Nice Brain or Excellent Brain protocols, if longer imaging times can be accepted. 

If very short scans are needed, take additional scans from Philips Fast Brain and Speedy Brain protocols.

 

If diffusion imaging is needed, DWISE and TDWISE are recommended. Those can be found in the Philips Speedy Brain and Philips Diffusion protocols.

Positioning

Use two thin pads under the patient's upper torso and the standard Neck L coil support under the coil. Coil position is inversed to the coil support, the outlet of the coil cable is towards the patient. Shield the coil cable with the pads. Use enough accessories to ensure patient comfort.

 

Position the patient deep into the Neck L coil and ensure that the whole brain is covered by the coil loop. Center the laser to the eyebrows.
