ExamCard purpose

This is a Panorama 1.0T ExamCard for high resolution CE-MRA of the renal arteries to show artery abnormalities.

 

BolusTrak is used for optimal timing of artery enhancement.

A THRIVE sequence is used to show late enhancement of the kidneys to evaluate abnormalities.

The patient is instructed to hold breath during the acquisition time of 20 seconds.
This acquisition uses a subtraction technique, and therefore best results are obtained if Pre, BolusTrak and Post are acquired quickly one after the other. The ExamCard technique of grouping the complete acquisition makes this very easy.VolumeView package with 3D HR THRIVE Using the 3D HR THRIVE sequence for late enhancement allows reconstruction in all planes of the kidneys and uretheral tracts.
VolumeView allows real-time selection of the best views for reconstruction.

Patient preparation

Patient is positioned in scanner feet first with I.V. set up and arms over head.

Respiratory compensation is placed over the abdomen with an immobilzation strap. 

The Body-M coil is then connected and the patient is postioned in the scanner.

Contrast agent / injection protocol

An injection rate of 2 ml/sec. is used to administer contrast agent based on the patient's weight. A 20 ml volume of saline is administered at 2 ml/sec. as a flush.

Post-processing / analysis:

Use VolumeView to analyze the 3D THRIVE acquisition and make the MIP's from the 3D high resolution sequence.
