1.5T Spine Diffusion

ExamCard containing three different approaches for diffusion-weighted imaging of the cervical spinal cord and vertebrae. All sequences use a SENSE factor of 2 to reduce susceptibility related artifacts by shortening the EPI echo train length and a b-value of 400. The 16-channel SENSE NeuroVascular coil is used.


The three different approaches are:

  • DWI_MSh. Sagittal multi-shot sequence. Has a low artifact level due to a limited number of profiles per excitation. In order to prevent artifacts due to microscopic motion cardiac triggering (by PPU), PhaseTrak and reacquisition mechanism are included.
  • DWI_SSh. Axial single shot sequence. Limited number of (5 mm) slices are included.
  • DWI_SSh_iso. Axial single shot sequence with an isotropic resolution of 2x2x2 mm. Large number of slices included to cover the whole cervical spine. Images can be reformatted to other planes.

NOTE: Text and images are included in the ExamCard containing tips and hints on both ExamCard level as well as on protocol level.


NOTE: The ExamCard is optimized for 1.5T Pulsar configuration. If your scanner is equipped with higher performance gradients the ExamCard can be further optimized by shortening the TE of the diffusion weighted protocols.
