ExamCard purpose

This release 2.6 Achieva 1.5T XR ExamCard was created by the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA for imaging the thoracic aorta. The Clinic uses the SENSE XL Torso coil, which has a very large coverage area.

ExamCard overview

Single-shot SSFP and half Fourier acquired single-shot turbo spin echo (ssTSE) images are acquired to delineate the anatomy.

Cine SSFP images are then acquired in multiple orientations to help characterize aortic motion and size.

Through-plane velocity encoded phase contrast images are acquired in a plane perpendicular to the mid ascending aorta, at the level of the main pulmonary artery, in order to quantify aortic flow and regurgitation.

All images are acquired with retrospective VCG gating during short (typically 8-14 second) breath holds, except the ssTSE images which are acquired with respiratory triggering during free breathing.
