ExamCard Purpose

General examination of the cranial contents and higher resolution, small field of view imaging of the sella tursica and the pituitary gland. Dynamic higher resolution acquisition is accomplished during injection to visualize lesions with abnormal vascularity.


An IV is placed  (usually in the hand) prior to the exam beginning so that patient positioning is maintained.


Some lesions may NOT fill imediately, but the pituitary gland itself will enhance immediately, thereby leaving a unenhanced circular defect in the pituitary gland.


The T1W_3D_TFE sagittal pre- and post-contrast (scans 6/11) are reformatted into coronal and axial planes.
