ExamCard purpose

This ExamCard is applied for patients with unexplained knee pain, post-injury, or suspicion of knee pathology. It provides a seven-sequence study with SENSE.

Use the scout scan for the right knee and/or the scout scan for the left knee.

 

The PD-weighted scans 4, 6 and 8 are done to visualize anatomy. The T2 weighted scan 5 and scan 7 are done to evaluate pathology.

Patient preparation

Position the patient supine, feet first.

The 8-channel SENSE Knee coil is used, with extra padding in the coil.

Contrast agent / injection protocol

Only when indicated, Gadolinium contrast agent is injected. Then perform sagittal and axial T1-weighted fat sat scans.

Post-processing / analysis

None necessary.
