ExamCard purpose

This ExamCard is for the visualization of obstruction in the biliary tree and pancreatic duct. It is applied for patients with abdominal pain and jaundice.

Ax T2W single shot SPAIR provides thin axial cuts to identify ducts, above the common bile duct to below the duodenum. Obl radial Single Shot MRCP is to identify the common bile duct and the pancreatic duct.

 

High resolution 3D MRCP of the common bile duct and the pancreatic duct is processed through Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP), then displayed three dimensionally.

 

Scans 6, 7, 8 are optional (separate vs. radial).

Patient preparation

Patient must be NPO for 4-6 hours to make the gall bladder distended.

 

Position the patient supine, head first.

The SENSE Torso coil is used.

Breath holding is required.

Contrast agent / injection protocol

None indicated.

Post-processing / analysis

3D MIP of the high resolution 3D MRCP scan.
