ExamCard purpose

Assess the bone, articular cartilage surfaces, the adjacent ligaments and tendons, the neurovascular bundles and the muscles of the ankle and foot. Indications in order of frequency include acute trauma, chronic and recurrent sports injuries, arthritis of the ankle joint and tarsus, neurologic symptoms of the foot and various masses in around the ankle. For masses addition of a gradient echo sequence for magnetic susceptibility is essential.

Patient preparation

Place Flex M coil on medial and lateral aspects of ankle.

After the survey, a reference scan is made for the application of the CLEAR filter and/or SENSE.
