We converted the lumbar spine ExamCard used on the clinical Achieva 3.0T X-series system into an Achieva 3.0T TX version including MultiTransmit. We then compared results with and without MultiTransmit to see the effect of MultiTransmit's improvements to SAR distribution. The image quality was improved and the overall scan time was significantly reduced.

The comparison ExamCard includes the TX and
non-TX scans used in the comparison.



When creating the optimized TX L-spine ExamCard, we adjusted the Refocusing Control Angle from 120 (on the FAHC 3.0T X-series Examcard), to as high as the system would allow and not affect scan duration. This allows for better contrast.

A B1 calibration scan is used for patient adaptive RF shimming. This leads to higher SNR, better image contrast and reduces B1 inhomogeneity.
