ExamCard purpose

This Release 5.1.7 Achieva 3.0T TX ExamCard is created for use with diffusion-weighted MR Neurography (DW-MRN) to display the brachial plexus nerve.

 

DW-MRN is based on the concept of diffusion-weighted whole-body imaging with background body signal suppression (DWIBS). The major advantages of DW-MRN are high conspicuity between the nerves and surrounding structures and 3D reformatting capability for visualization of the long trajectories of peripheral nerves.

Patient preparation

The patiënt is positioned head first and supine. The 16-channel SENSE NeuroVascular coil is used.

Postprocessing

Postprocessing of MRN data is performed using the full-volume MIP reconstruction and volume editing. Volume editing allows removal of superimposed structures with similar hyperintensity, such as veins and articular fluids, for good visualization of the nerves and lesions. In particular, the removal of superimposed structures is performed on full-volume MIP images, which are reformatted from the entire axial source diffusion-weighted MRN images.
