Auditory fMRI - Leuven

This ExamCard includes protocols for a typical auditory fMRI exam. It consists of necessary surveys and includes anatomical reference images.

The settings of the fMRI scan are optimized to create gaps-of-silence during the actual scan so various instructions or other auditory tests may be given.



Examples of auditory stimulus versus a baseline are:

- Continuous binaural musical stimulation during 30 seconds (6 dynamics of 5 seconds) versus no auditory stimulation during 30 seconds.

- Auditory stimulation during silent gap (e.g. specific tones) versus no auditory stimulation. In this case the external trigger pulse is used for synchronization of auditory stimuli. E.g. the trigger-pulse is sent to a PC, then a wait of 2000 ms (EPI scanning), after which an auditory stimulus is played for the duration of 3000 ms.


Within the ExamCard, for all scans, text and images are provided. Within the fMRI protocol the fMRI paradigms and IViewBold analysis are further described.
