Contrast-enhanced Total body MRA using MobiFlex

This ExamCard needs the Tabletop extender. No additional coils are required for an easy and fast setup of this procedure, without compromise in resolution. A dual injection approach is chosen. First the Peripheral vascular tree is obtained with the 3-station moving table concept (same concept as MobiFlex peripheral MRA). During the second step, the aortic arch and carotid vessels are scanned. Contrast arrival is detected real time with BolusTrak for each injection.

Features used in this ExamCard

  • Tabletop extender is used for additional table stroke.
  • ScanAlign: During planning, the imaging volumes at each station can be aligned to each other with a predefined overlap.
  • GeoLinks are applied between the different stations. The scanner and the Volume Package will recognize these GeoLinks, and enable easy single-button planning and MIP processing over the different stations.
  • BolusTrak fluoroscopic triggering is used to detect the arrival of the contrast agent.
  • Manual or automatic table movement: Automatic table movement can be chosen for an easy and fast workflow.
  • Automatic subtraction: Mask images are automatically subtracted from the CE images. Automatic MIP postprocessing After acquisition and subtraction, automatically orthogonal MIP images are generated.


A fast inflow Survey is acquired to obtain an overview of the total body vessel structure.


Fuse the orthogonal MIPs of the Survey sequence with the MobiView Package in the advanced viewing environment and store these images to the database. Use these images for planning.


Planning can be handled at once by double clicking on a sequence that is not yet planned. First start with the ScanAlign button activated and position all stations roughly. A default overlap region is used. Then switch off ScanAlign to position every station individually. Make sure that there is always sufficient overlap between neighboring stations.


The ExamCard will now guide you through the whole procedure. The ExamCard will stop at the level of the BolusTrak sequence (marked with a manual start) to prepare the contrast injection. Switch on the AutoView window to detect the contrast arrival. Start the execution of the BolusTrak scan together with the injector. A pop-up window will appear with a proceed button to switch to the contrast-enhanced scans when the contrast arrives in the artery of interest.

For the peripheral vascular tree press proceed at the moment the contrast enters the iliac bifurcation.


For aortic arch/carotids press proceed at the moment the contrast enters the carotid artery.
