ExamCard purpose

This ExamCard is designed for performing high resolution routine cervical spine exams. It can be used for evaluation of disc herniations, spinal stenosis, cord trauma, demyelination, paraspinous muscle tears, or inflammatory changes. It also includes a thick slab myelogram acquisition to best visualize any compression of the spinal canal or nerve sheath. The ST Neck coil is used.

All scans are performed to cover from the pons down to C2, except the axial FFE which is acquired from mid-C2 through the pedicles of T1.

 

Scan 3 is a sagittal T2-weighted TSE scan of the spinal canal, 12 slices.

Scan 4 is a sagittal STIR T2-weighted scan of the spinal canal, 12 slices.

Scan 5 is a sagittal T1-weighted TSE scan of the spinal canal, 12 slices.

Scan 6 is a coronal STIR of the paraspinous soft tissue.

Scan 7 is coronal/coronal oblique STIR to obtain direct and oblique views through each foramina.

Scan 8 is T2*-weighted 3D FFE axial views to evaluate cord and foramina.

Patient preparation:

Patient is supine and enters the magnet head-first.

The ST Neck coil is used. Use foam pads to immobilize the head in the coil.
