ExamCard description

This ExamCard is developed on Ingenia 3.0T at Release 5.4. The 32-channel Head coil is used.

In this multiparametric neuro-oncology ExamCard scan time reduction of structural sequences is achieved with Compressed SENSE (23% exam time reduction compared to SENSE acceleration when using 32ch head coil - see table below). This allows to include physiological sequences - 3D pseudo-continuous Arterial Spin Labeling (pCASL), 3D Amide Proton Transfer (APT) and Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast (DSC) - while keeping the total exam time under 30 minutes and without compromising image quality.

This is the standard brain tumor protocol at the Dent Neurologic Institute. Use of 32-channel Head coil is recommended for maximum acceleration.

The full protocol consists of:

  • Sagittal 3D T1
  • Coronal T2
  • Axial T2
  • Axial 3D FLAIR
  • Axial DWI
  • Axial SWIp 
  • Sagittal and Coronal PCA - for pCASL planning 
  • Axial 3D APT 
  • Axial 3D pCASL
  • Axial DSC perfusion
  • Sagittal contrast-enhanced 3D T1

Sagittal and coronal PCA sequences are done before APT to allow for pCASL planning while APT is running.
