ExamCard Purpose

This ExamCard is for imaging patients with possible arthritis, synovitis, tenovitis etc in fingers.

It covers the fingers from MCP to DIP.

Small FOV imaging benefits from scanning in the iso-center, which is easy to do on the open Panorama 0.6T scanner.

ExamCard Overview

Scan 23 plane Scout
Scan 3Sagittal T2w IRTSE
Scan 4Transverse T2w IRTSE

Scan 6Transverse T1w PR-FFE3D
Scan 7Transverse T1w PR-FFE3D C+
Scan 8Optional: Coronal T1w FFE3D C+

The Wrist coil is used. Position the hand very precisely in the coil with the PIP in the isocenter.

Sagittal and transverse STIR protocols are used to image the bone marrow and to see any fluids in the joints and tendons.

The T1w FFE3D coronal scan is almost isotropic making it possible to do MPR and calculate the other needed planes.

The FFE3D scans show the bone, cartilage and tendons. In order to improve contrast ProSet is used in transverse T1w scan.

SENSE is used in coronal and sagittal scans to keep the scan time reasonable.
