ExamCard purpose

This ExamCard is for a knee examination of large patients, who have to be scanned with the Head coil because the knee does not fit in the Extremity coil. Imaging times are about 5 minutes. In addition, the knee size and larger imaging volume of the Head coil are taken into account by phase foldover suppression.

 

This ExamCard consists of protocols typically used in knee imaging; you can select the needed ones.

 

All protocols can be used in any plane, however remember to use horizontal phase encoding direction in coronal and transverse scans, and to use vertical phase encoding in the sagittal plane. All protocols have 180-240% phase foldover suppression, so you can just swap the phase.

 

This ExamCard has two scoutviews. The first scoutview in the transverse plane, is used to find the right height for the three-plane scoutview.

 

When imaging large patients with larger coils, aliasing must be taken care of. In this ExamCard FOV is 200 mm in coronal and sagittal plane and 180 mm in transverse plane.

 

In-plane resolution is under 1.0 mm in most protocols.
